College Sports Announcer

Versatile play-by-play announcer Steve Quis rejoins Compass Media Networks after spending the past decade calling college basketball nationally for ESPN. Quis spent 2012 and 2013 calling the “Baseball Game of the Week” for Compass Media Networks.

Currently, Quis is the radio and television voice of UC San Diego basketball, the television voice of San Diego State football and basketball, and the television play-by-play announcer for the San Diego Clippers of the NBA G-League.

This past summer, he completed his 8th consecutive season calling the Indoor Football League nationally and his 14th straight year calling the California State High School Football and Basketball Championships for Spectrum Sports in Los Angeles.

This past year, he called the Big West Conference basketball and baseball championships on ESPN+ and served as the TV play-by-play announcer for the NBA Next Up All-Star Game in Los Angeles.

From 2006-2010, Quis served as the television play-by-play voice of the San Diego Padres, calling Trevor Hoffman’s record breaking save.

He has been a part of the San Diego Chargers broadcast team on radio while also serving as a sports anchor at KUSI-TV San Diego, KFMB-TV San Diego and KOLD-TV Tucson, AZ.

The University of Arizona alum called Arizona men’s and women’s basketball along with Big-12 volleyball during the 2024 season on ESPN+.

He makes his home in San Diego with his wife Jennifer. Their son Matthew is a U.S. Naval Aviator, while his daughter works in the front office for the Orlando Magic.
